Dr. Aditya Joshi, a former priest in a Hanuman temple and a Ph.D. in Quantum Physics was heading Saptarshi Corporation’s project for compiling and preserving old Sanskrit texts and revival of Sanskrit as a language for use in daily life. He was leading a team of several hundred “field researchers” scattered all over the country scouring, searching for old texts. Each one had authority to purchase any old Sanskrit document or pay for permission to scan/copy it. Dr. Aditya Joshi was himself stationed at Saptarshi Valley and had a whole three-storeyed building to house his staff of more than 300 persons. All members of Aditya’s team were Sanskrit Pundits. Each member was also proficient in various activities required in the business of Living such as Economics, different branches of Science, Administration of Government, Academics, and Business etc. They were tasked to find Sanskrit equivalents, coin words or phrases used regularly in their respective fields. There were Ph.D. holders from various Indian languages who did the job of finding similarities from their respective regional languages and Sanskrit. They also worked on ways to replace the Arabic, Persian and Urdu words; which had crept into the languages over the centuries. They had an additional task of creating means by which, the transition to Sanskrit from their particular language was to be made as easy as possible. Dr Aditya Joshi and his team of Computer engineers had designed a Computer Keyboard for Devanagari Script to replace the Roman Script one. The newly designed Keyboards were being manufactured by an Indian Keyboard manufacturing company and had gained instant popularity with the Hindi & Marathi population. The company also made Keyboards for other Indian languages and were equally well received by their respective users. Most or all of them had installed software for “English language”, enabling them to toggle between Roman Script and Devanagari.
They used to conduct a month-long Teachers Training Program in the Valley HQ for Sanskrit Teachers to teach the language from kindergarten onward to school students. Saptarshi Corporation on its part was funding the “Sanskrit Departments” of all Universities heavily and was offered a full scholarship to anybody enrolling for any Sanskrit course. The students were handed out “Appointment Letters”; assured employment, for the top 10% in the merit list and for other 90% subject to any vacancies.
With this sort of activities being conducted already, finding any new way to spend would have been a challenge for anybody. When Jaipal met Panditji as Dr. Aditya Joshi was popularly known; he welcomed the proposal of increased grant.
Jaipal asked, “Just curious to know -- how do you intend to use these funds?”
Panditji replied with his characteristic equanimity “I will start the job of translating or writing Sanskrit TEXTBOOKS for College and higher education. This is a very huge task and will require additional manpower which in turn require huge funding.”
“How much, may I ask?” Jaipal asked.
“At least Rupees 100 million per year” replied Dr. Aditya
Jaipal was relieved and bothered at the same time, relieved because Panditji’s requirement can be met and bothered because of the fact that his problem of plenty was not solved!
Jaipal returned back to his office after telling Panditji to go ahead with his plans and funds will be transferred at the earliest to a bank account operated by him. Panditji was the only person outside Jaipal’s close circle whom he trusted fully for his integrity. He knew that although Panditji was getting a good salary he was not spending it on his own life. Panditji’s daily routine was to sleep for 4 hours, one hour of Yog and physical workouts which kept him fit, Vipashyana meditation for 4 hours, eat only once daily and work 12 - 16 hours a day. He really lived like a Sanyasi's ascetic life. He supported the education of at least a dozen deserving poor students thru his savings. He requested a vacation for a couple of weeks every six months which was granted without questions by Jaipal. He used, especially custom designed for him, company’s smaller craft. The interiors of the craft were altered to accommodate a living room cum study cum bedroom & a full-fledged bathroom. It also had a mini kitchen which was stocked for his two trips every year. He never stayed overnight at any hotel or anybody else's house, preferring to stay on-board his craft. There was a room for accommodating the pilot of the craft. As he himself explained later on that the vacation and the craft were to visit his wards scattered all over the country and give talks at certain institutes. His visits were eagerly waited for by the recipients of his donation as well as his audience. People paid handsomely for the privilege of listening to his talks; the funds thus collected supported the education of more students.
